SpanAfrica's work with Grassroots Partner Organizations now includes Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana, and Uganda.

New Projects Page offers a wide variety of opportunities for volunteers who desire to work with Grassroots Partner Organizations.

SpanAfrica has several available volunteer staff positions.

We Invest in Local Priorities

Committed to building upon and supporting the humanitarian initiatives of our partner organizations, SpanAfrica respects the rights of our partner organizations to maintain their autonomy and utilize our services how they see best fit.

Since local organizations provide the cultural awareness, and specific understanding of needs and ultimately sustain any projects assisted by volunteers, we emphasize partner guidance and initiative in all projects, matched with ‘best practice’ research.

We Focus on Sustainable Projects

SpanAfrica only supports projects with the potential to be self-sustaining by the organization. We do not wish to create any real or imagined sense of dependency on SpanAfrica.

The sustainable mandates for all of our projects means that we are furthering the organization’s ability to reach out to its community, but never imposing a burdensome obligation that they do not value or are not capable of maintaining themselves.

We are Accountable

SpanAfrica holds itself to high standards in the quality and transparency of our work. We hold ourselves accountable to those we seek to assist and from whom we accept resources.

We uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a standard for all work done under the name of SpanAfrica, and partner with organizations and volunteers that also uphold these standards.

We are very appreciative of all comments, feedback, and concerns raised by partners, donors, and volunteers, as we work tirelessly to make ourselves an organization that benefits everyone involved to the best of our abilities. We commit to responding in time to all partner and volunteer communication.

We Recognize the Independence & Dignity of our Partners

At all times we recognize our Grassroots Partners as autonomous equals, and strive to support those doing exceptional local humanitarian and development work.

Furthermore, we treat all partners with respect and do not impose our services in part or in full onto anyone. We do not exist to govern or dictate the work of organizations, but to be a service through which they can extract the resources they need to further the work they are already doing.
