The Millennium Development Goals
In 2000, United Nation member states came together to endorse the determined eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). These goals are to be reached by 2015. Each of SpanAfrica’s partners are making local headway in one of these areas in their humanitarian or development work.
The MDGs recognize the need for joint efforts from within developing countries and contributions that developed countries can make. SpanAfrica works to bring resources, strategy, and support to grassroots organizations within African developing countries from around the world, giving global volunteers the chance to boost the groundwork efforts of locals and their non-profit organizations.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document adopted by the United Nations that expresses the rights that all humans should be entitled to. The 30 Articles cover the basic treatment that all persons (including children) deserve.
SpanAfrica uses the document as a basis for partnership to ensure that all Grassroots Partners and volunteers hold high standards for their operations and a like-minded attitude for development and humanitarian work as they network and join together in efforts. The version written here is in a simplified English, but holds the original spirit of requiring equality of all persons, fairness in treatment and service, disapproves of abuse and discrimination, and embraces the importance of humanity joining together as one.
