Prison Fellowship Zambia

About Us
Prison Fellowship Zambia is a registered non-profit providing care and support to incarcerated persons and their families throughout the country. The broad scope of its work allows it to reach out to over 6000 people annually, with services including microfinance loans to ex-prisoners and their spouses, medical care, education, and HIV testing; and working with prisoners to integrate them back into the community with viable job skills.

Our Community
Based out of Ndola, Zambia, PFZ works in 44 prisons throughout the country with its spread of services. Its local care groups incorporate 850 volunteers. Its places of work range from within the prisons, to accompanying the families of prisoners with support, and into various shantytowns throughout the country where rehabilitative support would otherwise be non-existent. With dismal prison conditions that do not provide adequate care or rehabilitative support, PFZ works hard to provide the needs of the prisoners to allow for reform and support.

Our History

Began by Dr. Mahtani, after he himself served time in Zambian jail, his work supported by his church, became a registered non-profit organization in 1984, and has continued to expand its work since then with quality programs with greater regularity and quality throughout the country. Its goals are to grow to reach the remaining three prisons in the country, and increase the scope of services provided as there is still a great amount to be done for the inmates, those released from prison, and the families of both.
